Robotics Program
you must be the change you wish to see in the world
At Rowan ACM-W, we are a group of computer science students at Rowan University.
This idea for our very successful
robotics program started with our adviser , Dr. Kay lending us some of her robotics equipment.
The main motive behind our program
was to provide middle-school and high-school students with the opportunity to engage with technology in an interesting way.
We wanted to give young girls and boys the chance to explore basic computer science principles like writing simple algorithms, making the robot
perform task, using logic and reasoning to solve problems.
We initially ran these workshops with our advisers equipment but after receiving funding from
Google IgniteCS .
We were able to expand our program further by purchasing more robotics(Lego Mindstorms) and equipment.
We are currently starting our second year into this program and we hope to get more children excited about technology.
